Working on something to make ortho photos better

X-Plane

I have been a bit quiet on my page lately - that has to do with me working on something quite extensively. It is written in Python and has to do with ironing out a number of problems that occur with the use of ortho photos in flight simulators, namely and primarily the discoloration issues. There are others too, but that is the main issue.

Once finished, it can be extended to do quite a lot of funky and nice features... I am curious myself how well the final product will work.

Anyways:

I have managed to extract OSM data, and then construct images from it. Here you see a part of a golf course in Leverkusen in Germany, which has a forested area. The darkened area is the image I have produced from extracting OSM tags, and superimposed it over a screenshot of the same area from OpenStreetMap. As you can see, it is a perfect match.

Stay tuned.
